The international standard for quality management systems (QMS) known as ISO 9001 is defined as such. The standard is used by businesses to show that they can consistently deliver goods and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. It is the only ISO 9000 standard to which organizations can accredit them; making it the most widely used one.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO), an international organization made up of the national standards bodies of more than 160 nations, published ISO 9001 for the first time in 1987. In September of 2015, the most recent version of ISO 9001 was made available.
ISO 9001:2015 is applicable to any business, regardless of size or sector. The requirements of the ISO 9001 standard have been implemented into the quality management systems of more than one million businesses located in more than 160 nations.
